Congratulations on following your dream and launching your lash business! Whether lashes are your main focus or part of a broader suite of offerings, growing your business takes time, systems, data, and—most importantly—a clear vision. Let’s break down each of these pillars for sustainable growth.
Start with your vision. Success isn’t simply about seeing more clients. It’s about planning and projecting long-term growth. That begins with knowing exactly who you are, why your business exists, and the impact you want to make in your community.
Your vision must be rooted in your core values. In my book Interdependent Leadership, I dedicate a whole chapter to this. Core values are powerful—they’re the non-negotiables that ground you. They remind you of who you must be, no matter the circumstances. There will always be challenges in building a thriving company, and it’s easy to get thrown off track. That’s why values-based decision-making is far more effective than reacting situationally. Remember: tough times don’t last, but tough people do.
So today, take a moment to revisit—or define—your core values. Clarify them in your own terms and build a daily practice around living them. Values give you fuel to persevere. Systems help you put those values into action.
Now let’s talk systems. Take stock of where you’re strong and where there’s room to improve. Systems are repeatable steps that create consistent results—whether it’s with clients or internal operations. The goal is to get your processes out of your head and onto paper. If you have a team, make sure everyone is aligned and following through. A well-organized business is a powerful step toward realizing your vision.
Next: Get financially organized. Invest in tools that give you real-time visibility, so your decisions are driven by data—not emotion. If you use QuickBooks, make sure it’s up to date. Dive into your software’s capabilities and master the reports that show where you’re progressing and where support is needed. Your data is your business speaking to you—listen closely.
If your finances aren’t in order, you may be missing critical issues that could be addressed before they escalate.
Ultimately, clarity of purpose, structured systems, and solid data are what elevate your growth. Set aside time each week to assess your business performance. Reflect deeply, ask questions, and be willing to shift. And never forget: as a lash artist, your most important client is your business. It demands your care and attention daily.
This is what we signed up for as entrepreneurs—it’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. You have the power to create the future you envision. So let’s stop getting stuck in what’s not working and start being the solution. Ready to solve the puzzle?
